Kettering Dar a Luz Network

Dar a Luz is a non-profit dedicated to providing the broadest range of evidence-based information and unconditional support to pregnant women and new moms.

We meet every first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in The Community Room (above Caribou Coffee) at The Greene (intersection of Dorothy Lane and 675).

Meetings are free and offer tons of information on pregnancy, birthing and parenting, snacks and a strong circle of unconditional support. Children are always welcome.

August Meeting

Hi everybody! THis months meeting is all about the second nine months and what you need to know to take care of yourself and your baby, we will be meeting again at our new location, please see previous post for info, we look forward to seeing you there, August 5th at 7pm at the Greene Apartments community Room

July meeting (IMPORTANT ROOM CHANGE)

The July Daraluz meeting is going to be covering birth plans/preparation, everything you need to know to improve your birth experience whether you birth at home, in a birth center, or at the hospital. PLease feel free to bring your own birth plan past, present, or future, and we will all benefit from each others ideas!

Also we will be using a new room starting with this July Meeting, it will still be at the Greene, but it is called the apartments community room,
to get into that room:
- go to the breezeway next to victoria’s secret
- the entrance is across from guest services
- ring the buzzer that says security
- they will ask who you are and then come let you in

PLEASE pass this info on to whomever you know that is currently attending or plans to attend DaraLuz in the future, we would greatly appreciate it, and we will see you all on July 1st at 7pm!

-The US ranks 41st among 171 countries in the latest UN list ranking maternal mortality;
-The US maternal mortality ratio is now 11 deaths per 100,000 live births, one of the highest
rates among industrialized nations;
-The US maternal deaths have remained roughly stable since 1982 and have not declined significantly since then.

June Is All About Vaccinations!

The June Meeting of Dar a Luz is calling all Dads, please bring your husband, friend, significant other etc. to the meeting on June 3rd at 7pm at the Greene, we will be discussing different realms of vaccinations, please bring your own research and thoughts. Alternatives to Baby Showers!

We are so excited to be hosting April Kline and Devon Horsman speaking on this topic, come prepared to learn new ways to celebrate motherhood and your baby’s birth! We will see you all May 6th at 7pm at the Greene Community Room, take care!

Kettering Dara Luz Playgroup!

IT’S PLAY TIME!

Hey everyone! Kettering Dara Luz is starting a play group, everyone and anyone is welcome, feel free to invite new moms, sisters, etc. Everyone can bring their kids young and old alike. Bring your lunch if you want and we will all enjoy fun and fellowship while letting the kids play!!

·       Date: 2nd Tuesday of every month starting in April 2008

·       Time: 10am-12pm

·       Place: See below

·        April: Slings, Diapers, and things show and tell- please bring your favorite cloth diapers, sling or baby carrier, etc. and we will all benefit and learn something new- meet at Java Street Café  2056 E Dorothy Lane, Kettering OH 45420. In the Kettering town center next to Elder Beerman (b/c we weren’t sure of the weather!)

·       May: Indian Ripple Park in Kettering

·       June: Wegerzyn Gardens in Dayton 1301 E Siebenthaler (bring towels, bathing suits and sunscreen)

·       July: Orchardly Park in Oakwood on Delaine Ave between Wonderly and Orchard ( bring bathing suits, towels, and sunscreen)

·       August: The Greene (will gather around the big sprinklers to let kids play, and then from there shop or eat…..)

In case of rain, the group will be cancelled unless otherwise noted
